Frequently Asked Questions
-
I haven't studied in a long time, I'm not sure I would be able to do it.These courses are not constructed in the same way school or university studies are. We ensure that everything taught is interesting, fascinating even! That way learning is fun! There are no long essays - ever. Instead you get to practice and have fun as you write the results into your Student Journals. Everything is straightforward and simple, and any questions are answered straight away so you can get on with learning and enjoying your newfound knowledge & skills!
-
Are there any pre-requisites I need to study at A.P.K.A.?Year 10 school certificate or equivalent is useful, as is a good comprehension of written, as well as aural and oral English and numeracy.
-
Do I have to have a lot of experience with computers? Not at all. If you choose to join us for an online course, or if you choose to download information to your iPad or tablet, it is very easy. We're more than happy to teach you how to do it, and you'll see just how simple it is.
-
Are there payment plans available to pay for my course or retreat?Absolutely! Different courses and events require different deposits and regular payments - please send in your enquiry so that we may speak with you about tailoring the payments to suit your budget.
-
I have children - can I complete this course around my family?Yes, you can. Many participants have completed this school while raising their children.
-
Are there any tools or equipment I need for your courses?Foundations of Kinesiology: You will need to borrow, hire or buy a massage table so you can practice on your volunteers. An iPad (not tablet) is useful if you wish to have the information in a digital format - but not necessary to work with. Online Post-Graduate Courses: You will need to have a device and an app that allows you to get online. The device can be either a tablet, laptop or mainframe computer - phones are not suitable for many reasons (battery life, constant interruptions etc). The app (or 'application' meaning computer program) you will need is Zoom - there is a free option, if you just want to join into the online meeting for the course.
-
I live outside Queensland, can I still study with you?Yes, you can. There are many students who travel to Queensland from interstate, from afar as Adelaide.
-
Are you a Registered Training Organization?Previously to 2018, the Australian Government and Health Insurers (who insured certain therapies like kinesiology and massage), demanded that certain fields of study have nationally recognized training. However, since the approval for inclusion of certain therapies like Kinesiology, into Health Cover/Insurance has been abolished, so has the requirement for nationally recognized training. Therefore, Kinesiologists can train and work in non-nationally recognized training institutions like A.P.K.A.
-
What if I miss a face-to-face class?Sometimes life happens and for that reason I record every class so you will be able to watch what you missed in your own time. After that it is important that we arrange a one on one tutorial to ensure you have understood the class correctly and have caught up. Alternatively, you can attend the class next time it is taught. It is a good idea to repeat classes more than once, and you are always welcome to attend a class again, for a minimal fee.
-
Can I apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?Yes there are certain units you can apply to have recognized as already completed, if they comply with certain guidelines. Please download this form, fill it in and email it back to the Academy with certified copies (JP signed) of the qualifications you have achieved, and we will assess them and notify you of the outcome.
